About LegalRepublic
LegalRepublic.in is India's daily legal news website. We cover decisions of the Supreme Court, High Courts, Tribunals and Commissions — reported accurately, explained clearly, and placed in context.
We write for three audiences: practising lawyers who need to stay current, law students building their understanding of living jurisprudence, and citizens who want to know what the courts are actually doing in their name.
What we believe
India has no shortage of legal information. What it lacks is legal journalism — reporting that goes back to the original judgment, not a press release; that explains what was held, not just what was argued; that situates a ruling in the broader arc of doctrine without editorialising about outcomes.
That is the gap LegalRepublic.in is built to fill.
How we work
Every article on this site is sourced from the original judgment text. We do not report on court proceedings from press conferences or bar association statements. We read the order, verify the bench and citation, and write from there.
Our editorial guardrails are simple: plain English, no speculation, maximum three direct quotes per article (each under fifteen words), and corrections that are dated, transparent, and permanently visible.
What we cover
We publish across eight sections: Supreme Court daily reporting, High Courts across all 25 jurisdictions, Tribunals (NCLT, NCLAT, NGT, CCI, CAT, SAT), Everyday Law guides for non-lawyers, Student Corner for CLAT and judiciary aspirants, The Republic for long-form legal essays, Dissent for opinion and historic dissents, and Legal Buzz for bar and industry news.
Independence
LegalRepublic.in is an independent publication. We are not affiliated with any law firm, bar association, court, or government body. We carry no display advertising and accept no sponsored content. Our editorial decisions are our own.
