Editorial Policy
LegalRepublic.in is a legal news publication. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.
Sourcing
Every article is sourced from the original judgment or order text. We do not report from press conferences, bar association statements, or second-hand accounts of proceedings. The case name, citation, bench composition, and proceeding type are verified and displayed on every article.
Independence
LegalRepublic.in accepts no sponsored content, paid placements, or advertorial. We have no financial relationships with law firms, courts, or any party whose matters we report on. Writers disclose any personal or professional connection to a case they report on, and recuse themselves where a conflict cannot be adequately disclosed.
Voice and tone
We write in plain English. We do not use undefined legal jargon without explanation. We do not speculate about outcomes or motives beyond what the judgment records. We do not editorialize in news reports — opinion is clearly labelled and confined to the Dissent section.
Direct quotes from judgments are limited to three per article, each under fifteen words, and are always attributed to the exact passage.
AI assistance
Some articles on this site are drafted with the assistance of AI tools working from the source judgment text. Every AI-drafted article is substantively reviewed and rewritten by a human editor before publication. The editorial responsibility for accuracy and fairness rests with the named author, not the tool.
Corrections
When we publish an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections appear on the original article with a date stamp and a clear description of what was wrong and what the correct information is. We do not silently delete or alter text. For significant factual errors, a correction note appears at the top of the article.
To submit a correction, see our contact page.
Photographs and illustrations
Article illustrations are generated SVGs, not photographs of real people or real court proceedings. We do not publish photographs of litigants, accused persons, or witnesses without their consent, except where they are public figures and the photograph is directly relevant to the legal matter reported.
